Swimming in testosterone!

Aaaaccckkkkkk! I think I have finally hit the wall with male cards! Losing mojo .... must ... have ... girly ... things.. ! So here are the last couple of male cards (see earlier entries for the story) plus a Tilda card I made a while back as a thank you for a RAK.

For the first one I had more fun with puff paint on the beer mug from Cheers To You and mixed it with an old favourite, Enjoy Every Moment. The papers are from Windsor Knot DSP, which I really like BTW, even tho they are mostly masculine looking! And the little chipboard star is from On Board Essentials.

The next one - the last one! - again uses stuff from the Simply Sent kit and matching stamp set, with the addition of a double-punched star. Could be a birthday card or congrats card, I guess - I don't know what I was thinking when I did it!!!

And lastly, to save my sanity, a beautiful little girly card! Yay! Just as well I have two girls and not two boys, I'm thinking! I just LURVE this brocade blue DSP from the Patterns II hostess set.

That's all folks! Hope you have a good day and thanks for calling in.

More blokey birthdays

Howdy! The kids are back at school today and we all know what that means - guilt free stamping time!!! Yay! Here are some more male cards that I've been working on for my posse of bloke birthdays coming up soon.

Created by Kez. Stamped images ©1990-2009 Stampin' Up! ®

I think this one could be male or female, but I've decided for now that it's male, OK? Yes, you may be right, it could just be a pathetic excuse to play with my brayer!!! :-)

Supplies used:

  • stamps - Upsy daisy
  • inks - baja breeze, blue bayou, not quite navy, basic black
  • paper & card - whisper white, basic black, baja breeze
  • other - brayer, 32 mm circle punch, post it note, sponge dauber

This second card could be given to blokes with trucks, otherwise I think it's probably more suited to a boy.

Supplies used:

  • stamps - Loads of love and Loads of love accessories
  • paper & card - Urban garden DSP, kiwi kiss patterns DSP, not quite navy, baja breeze and whisper white cardstock
  • other - dimensionals, 32 mm and 35 mm circle punches, Big Shot and nestabilities, kiwi kiss striped grosgrain ribbon, blender pen

And this last boy one is a direct case from page 141 of the Idea Book & Catalogue. It uses the Rock Star Simply Sent Card Elements set and the co-ordinating Starring You stamp set. It's the very first time I've ever used one of these and I have to say - SO QUICK AND EASY! It took me literally less than 5 minutes to make this card, and they give you all the things you need except ink. Gotta love that!

Phew! I'm feeling desperately in need of some pink!!! More guilt-free playing in store .......!

Thanks for stopping by. Have a nice day!

May is for Male

Having just gotten over all the female friends and family having birthdays in April, now I'm faced with five male birthdays for early May! Yes, five!!! And all really close together! We all know how challenging it is to create male cards, so as you can imagine, I started off feeling a little daunted at the thought of five!

Had a good look through all the sets I have that could be used, browsed my stash of DSP for masculine colours, and came up with a bunch of cards that I'll choose from and keep the rest in stock. Here are the first three. You'll find the layout similar in some of them - I follow the Keep It Simple rule (just like blokes, LOL!!!).

I started with Chef Henri, the little fat chef:

Supplies used:

  • stamps - Voila and Voila a la carte
  • papers - Apple Cider DSP (retired), close to cocoa and whisper white cardstock
  • other - dimensionals, Big Shot and nestabilities, wild wasabi double stitched ribbon, watercolour crayons, aquapainter
Next came some tools, a good bloke standby!

Supplies used:

  • stamps - For Father (retired)
  • paper & card - basic grey, baja breeze and whisper white cardstock, basic grey patterns DSP (hostess set)
  • other - "screw" type brads (stash)

I had a play with a new set and some puff paint - fun, fun, fun! I also put crystal effects over all of the beer glass to make it shine like glass (but you can't tell that in the photo). I don't have a stamp reverser, so drew the reverse image by hand after cutting out the shape - hence the crooked lines!

Supplies used:

  • stamps - Cheers to you
  • card & paper - Windsor Knot DSP, sage shadow and whisper white cardstock
  • other - dimensionals, chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon, crystal effects, puff paint

Hope they help if you are in need of inspiration for male cards too! I'll have some more tomorrow.

Cheers

Lest We Forget

Good morning all. I hope if you have been up for a dawn service or ANZAC Day march that you managed a cup of something hot to warm you.

For anyone visiting from overseas, ANZAC Day is a public holiday here to mark the anniversary of the first major military action fought by troops from Australia and New Zealand during the first World War. It is now a day on which we pay our respects to all those from both countries who have fought in any military action and gets its name from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, who were called Anzacs. If you are interested in learning a little more, click here.

Today I have a scrapbook layout to share. (I know! shock!) This layout was done quite a while ago and isn't one of my best, but it is pertinent to today and one on which I proudly commemorate part of our family's war history.

My FIL was born and raised in the US and in May of 1941 he joined the Army Air Corps as an armorer gunner, later to become a navigator. He was stationed at Hickam Field on the shore of Pearl Harbor Naval Base when the Japanese Imperial forces attacked on 7 Dec 1941. These pages show photos of him and his bomber crew and the main photo on the second page is when he attended the Pearl Harbor survivors 50th reunion (the journalling is under here).

Thanks for stopping by. Have a good day.

Cheers

Chocolate cupcake anyone?

Any chocolate addict will tell you that it doesn't matter what it is, if it has chocolate, smells like chocolate or looks like chocolate ... well, it is irresistable is what it is!!!! And two elements of today's card were just that - irresistable. One: the "box of chocolates" paper I was putting away from my abortive attempt at a card for Cinema Saturday's Chocolat fiasco (see previous entry!), and two: a Tilda holding cowberry muffin stamped image (what the dang is a cowberry, please someone?!) sent to me by the very kind Bec. Put the two together and what do you have? A second go at the MDUC cupcake challenge, is what!!!

Created by Kez

I am LOVING the whole pink pirouette/riding hood red/chocolate chip colour combo!
Supplies used:
  • stamps - Tilda with cowberry muffin (Magnolia), cupcake (Maya Road), sentiment from Birthday Cupcake set (Inkadinkado)
  • papers - chocolate box (stash), riding hood red patterns DSP (SU), pink pirouette and chocolate chip cardstock (SU), vellum (stash)
